Looking for the Right Maria Krocher Priester

I have been looking through Ancestry’s free 15 days, though it is only certain records they are making the 1920 US Federal Census available.

So I decided to look for my great-grandmother Maria Krocher Priester, though I know most of the information I thought I would just type in her name for the search, it yielded 240 results.

Skimming through them I am looking for any that live in Michigan and or in and around Detroit. I always get the same results. Which is Maria Priester as a daughter, but it was crossed out as the wife.

Both Maria Krocher Priester and her daughter also should be listed at this address in 1920 but the mother is written in then crossed out and Marie Priester (daughter) is written in with the right birth year and age.

Anton Priester has the wrong year and age written 1908 and 12 years which should be 1904 and 16 years born in Hungary, and Michael Priester should be 1910 and 9 years at the time of the census, while Elizabeth Priester birth year of 1914 and age 5 is correct.

The other question is who is Joesph Priester, father age 35 and immigrated in 1905. Since the children’s father, Anton Priester died in 25 December 1919, so would not be alive for the census.

So my two big questions are

Where is Maria Kocher Priester the mother?

Who is Joesph Priester?

I know that the answers are out there as are the missed placed photographs from the family.

Anyone who might have information or and idea please do let me know as it is a piece of the research I would like to fill in.

Looking for Records

I was with my wife the other night, looking on-line for SSDI, Social Security Death Index the interestingly annoying problem was that all the web-sites wanted us to pay, sign-up or in some way or anther give out information to get what is suppose to be free public knowledge.

I am thankful to site that have scanned in the census, and other records for people to search, but to say that they are then copyrighted, in my book is wrong.

It is a public document, after it is scanned there is no altering, or creative twist put to these scans that in one way or another make them an original work.

So saying they are copyrighted is misleading.

Enough of my ranting, I am trying to make available records about Priester to any member of the Priester’s who is trying to find out information. It is a slow task of lots and lots of records.

In the mean time if you have a question or query about a Priester, or Priester Family email me at matthew.priester@priesterfamilytree.com and I’ll answer your question best that I can.

I just spent time looking at all the Priester stuff on the web, most of it old links to genealogy sites. I see I have my work cut out for me.

Hello World

Hello it has been a while since I have been writing

World of Priesters

I know that there are many Priesters doing many different things, from musicians, to doctors, lawyers to teachers and from farmers to housewives.

Getting their stories, and getting them out there for the world and the family of Priesters to see is a huge undertaking. Enlisting the help of Priesters across this vast world will be a key feature into knowing who we are as Priesters.

Networking along with making the PriesterFamilyTree site more known will help so that MyNameIsPriester will be able to tell more stories.

Sitting here, I just came up with a ideal, famous Priesters up to now in history. Though I am not sure if there are any that I can use.

I know of Priester Match Company out of Germany before WW II, and Priester Avation here in the United States based in Chicago.

I just found and interesting page out of the Netherlands, that has a list of Priesters, on the web, so I’ll be keeping you informed.

Direction Me

I have to start this somewhere, and for a lack of better literature on what other Priesters are doing around the world, I will talk about me.

Not all that exciting I am sure to most but here goes.

I was been in contact to the originator of the FB site My Name Is Priester, because I was noticing that post to there were not being sent to other Priesters. Since I know that most don’t visit the site regularly I have been trying to get this corrected.

There has been some great post on the FB site, but little response. So it is good to get this corrected.

Also to getting these sites up and running in a more efficient and effective way is a top priority. Which that in itself could drive one crazy.

Widgets that all don’t work the say way on every site. Mind-boggling.

The PriesterFamilyTree site is experiencing a small technical glitch, it quit displaying ads by Google. Not sure why but I think it has to do with spiders.

Crazy I know but they are spiders that crawl the web indexing websites so search engines like Google, Bing, Yahoo and others can find what you are looking for better and faster.

Defining the Direction of this Site

I have decided a direction for this website.

It will be dedicated to the Priesters’ and what we have done, what we’ve accomplish, what defines us.

I want to showcase Priester are diverse nature

I had been thinking where to take this site to define it different from the family tree site. Using our (The Priester’s) accomplishments and goals is a great way to showcase how are heritage has help create us.

Lessons Learned When Dealing With Family

I have been waiting for 15 days for family tree books on the Sams, that I had order from a distance cousin.

I learned that I need to verify the address, that they the seller has the correct one, an insist on insurance and or tracking numbers. I my case the 3 of the 4 books were sent to an address in which I hadn’t lived at for 10 months. With no tracking or insurance I was at the mercy of the system.

I had done just about everything I could after that to find the books. But it is hard to find a needle in a haystack when you don’t even know what the needle looks like.

I had today off and had been planning on going up to Burlingame, California to the post office to look for them. After getting up early and flying for 2 hours then taking the bus to Burlingame I arrived at the post office.

I started telling my story when the other clerk said there was 3 packages back there, but couldn’t remember to who they were suppose to be delivered to. My clerk went back there and brought out the 3 packages, she was amazed that they were there and had not been forwarded. I was just happy that I was able to find them.

I stopped by Starbucks for some coffee and change for the bus and headed back to the airport at SFO for my trip back home. Happy in the days work that I had accomplished and that these books that I paid a pretty penny for weren’t lost in the system.

So always verify that they have your correct address, USPS, FedEx and UPS all offer tracking numbers and insurance for a small cost. So for me it is the way to go to insure me peace of mind.

Since my mind is always thinking about working on my business of ebooks, learning and writing these blogs I have got an ideal about the 2 family websites

PriesterFamilyTree.com and MyNameIsPriester.com

Priester Family Tree will be about family genealogy, history, trees, census, marriage certificates, etc., while My Name is Priester will be about what we Priester’s have done or are doing in our daily lives through-out the world.

Which I think it will give it the diversity they both need to succeed as a blog and website.

So that being said this will be the last post of togetherness, as they all will now grow and go there own ways. Not say that at sometime in the future they can’t share a post or two, they can and probably will.

How Cold is Cold

I have been lucky for the month of February and got a line, with that I was able to pick up trips. I got 3 Anchorage AK trips back to back. The funny things is that is warmer here than it will be in Scottsdale AZ at night all week.

But there isn’t Global Warming.

I got some great pictures of the Alaskan wilderness covered in snow. The amazing thing is I took these with my iPhone, and they came out great. I took lots more pictures with my Canon 5D digital camera, but the ones on the iPhone were so I could send them to friends.

It was a great day hanging out with my friend Ayanna. Many thanks to her for being the chauffeur.

Coffee Shop Nuts

To get out of the house and take in the beautiful weather here in Scottsdale, AZ I have come to a local coffee shop to write and relax.

But of course in this world or age where the use of social etiquette has been thrown out for the more intolerable it is all about me world. Talking loudly whether on a mobile phone or to friends is the norm not caring about others. Hence the nuts in the title.

Enough of the rant. Back to the important topics.

It has been a relaxing afternoon after getting to sleep at 4:30 am. I have been on call since 3:00 pm but I don’t think that they (scheduling) will be using me today which is cool because it is my last day on reserves. Hopefully for good but I won’t hold my breathe.

I have been needing to get busy and write, on this and my other 2 blogs so for now I will have to combine them into a multi-blog post.

I received an email back from my very talented cousins in Prague about putting some of their pictures on the family sights. Which is cool.

Lucia told me they were at a concert of her most favorite band “Pain of Salvation” though I haven’t heard of them I am sure if my 3 cousins like them I am sure there is something to be said for them.

I got a few photos of my cousins being there, they had so many pictures but I wanted to post a few of them. If you drag your cursor over the photos you can see their names.

I have been planning to go to Hungary, in April so I will try and swing by Prague after being in Budapest. Planning on a Thursday – Tuesday excursion in Prague.

I also need to get to researching my plan of attack, travel, transportation, buses and trains… and the all important places to stay.

The base will be in Hungary at the city of Szekesfehervar by the recommendation of the mayor of Mezofalva the town where my family is part of the original settlers 200 years ago. The other town that I need to visit is Mor which is about the same distance from Szekesfehervar as Mezofalva is. Szekesfehervar is suppose to be a really nice town with a old world downtown area, which is filled with restaurants, shops, cafes, galleries and museums. My kind of place, which I am hoping the night life their will be exciting.

I can’t wait.

I guess need to update the other blogs then back to studying.

It is a New Year, time enact change

This is my first post since the beginning of the New Year. I have 4 blogs that I will be working on, the first is this one, MatthewPriester.com, the next 2 PriesterFamilyTree.com and MyNameIsPriester.com are blogs that will be used and dedicated to bringing a better understanding of Priesters through-out the world. Along with helping to connect family members through-out the world through a exchange of information, stories, and photographs.

I last of the 4 and certainly not the least is iBookBuddy.com, it is an ebook development company I am starting up, with lots of innovative ideas for the future readers in electronic media plus back to the future ideas for those who embrace  the old school approach.

After finishing up the year with a cold, I decided I was flushing out the old undesirable portions of my life that had been weighing me down. So one day after my Birthday and one the most enjoyable and delicious meals with family and friends, hosted and cooked by husband and wife team Pavle Milic and Emily Pullen ( who can be visited Monday-Sunday with their partner award winning chef and crew at FnB in Old Town Scottsdale, yes it is a plug for their restaurant, once you try it you will know what I mean and what others are talking about) it is time to enact some changes.

I am a freshly minted MBA grad, a big weight off my shoulders, with studying and working at the same time. I have continued studying though to make myself more marketable, HTML, XHTML, CSS, ebook design and development, plus a few of things on the side I want to incorporate.

Genealogy  is only a small part of the incorporation, which includes producing better on-line tools for producing ebook and hard copy books about families, history, trees and creating a electronic standard for genealogy files.

But more on those subject as the weeks progress, today though I am hoping that I will be able to attend Hercegfalva, (old name) now Mezöfalva, Hungary on Apr 9th 2011 for the 2ooth year anniversary  of the town and where my Great Grand Parents came from. It will be fun, educational, and historical. I will keep you up dated.
